Meeting point in front of Mýtny domček (Toll House) on Starý most (The Old Bridge) in Petržalka.

The ornithological tour of Lido will present the outcomes of several months of research and mapping of the site from the perspective of its avifauna. During the morning walk (the time when birds are most active) ornithologist Soňa Nuhličková will point out several valuable bird locations. We will discover the diversity of bird species by listening to birdsong and learning about the functions and significance which singing intermediates among a given species. We will also learn about how birdsong affects the human psyche, relaxation, positive thinking and the restoration of energy. Last but not least, this tour will reveal what the presence of specific species says about the biological and social value of the area.

We recommend outdoor clothing for this tour, including firm shoes and binoculars (which will also be made available).

Mgr. Soňa Nuhlíčková PhD., an expert in ornithology and bird ecology, specializes in small songbirds and woodpeckers. She works at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Comenius University in Bratislava.

This event is part of the Urban Imagination Seminar which focuses on issues related to the rights of the city in the time of climate crisis and pays specific attention to Bratislava Lido and its intended transformation. This ornithological tour will also be attended by students of the Studio of Spatial Communications and the Department of Intermedia of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.
