The event will be conducted in English.

During the public session of the Community & Commoning Reading Group we will read and talk about selected excerpts from texts written/edited by Marijke Steedman, Stavros Stavrides, Anette Baldauf, Stefan Gruber, Moira Hille, Annette Krauss, Vladimir Miller, Mara Verlič, Homg-Kai Wang and Julia Wieger and the possible ways of creating spaces of commoning.

ERSTE Foundation is main partner of tranzit.

This project has been supported using public funds provided by Slovak Arts Council.

The third and last reading session from the series will focus on concepts such as community, common space and commoning practices. We’ll start by discussing how art institutions work beyond their own sites, and engage with their neighborhood or other sites through community art projects. What are the motivations, challenges, risks and potentialities involved in such endeavors? How is it possible to be, live and act together without annihilating difference? Continuing this line of thought, we’ll address social practices through which certain city spaces have been transformed into common spaces of encounter and sharing, mediation of differences and conflicts as well as sites where the rules and forms of use are created by their users and do not fall under the control of a dominant authority.
