6 p.m. Martin Toldy: The Altruism of “Kumšaft” (performance)
In the performance Altruism „kumšaftu“ (The Altruism of “Kumšaft”) Martin Toldy deals with the notion of value as the extent of the capacity and relevance of artwork and the self-satisfying factor or the fulfilment of the desire for success. The term "kumšaft" is created by an intentional agrammatic neologism from the words kunšaft (client, order, contract) and "kumšt" (ability, skill, art). The relationship between work and value, product and price are implicitly contained in the term “art” itself. In online performance, the artist unveils various forms of values and evaluation. The baseline for this work is search for the meaning of creative work and its application in practice and the theme of assessing artwork through the optics of financial value. Extensive Situation is a set of five artistic interventions which complement the exhibition of artist and theorist Robert Cyprich by updating his legacy. The discussion with the participating artists is an attempt to present works that were created especially for the exhibition and which we do not currently have the opportunity to see due to the lockdown situation. The authors will present the origin and context of their diverse genre works of art. The presentations will be not oly verbal, but also based on image and sound. The discussion will also include poetry reading (Liza Gennart) and a short experimental music sample (Miroslav Tóth).
